Tyson’s Corner is located between Vienna and McLean in Fairfax County, VA. Known for its first class shopping at Tyson’s Corner Center and Tyson’s II as well as for its many office buildings, the area is experiencing residential expansion as well.
Tyson’s Corner residents send their children to school in the Fairfax County Public School system.
Soon it will be home to four new Metro Rail Stations. The Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, currently in Phase I will carry the Orange (according to WMATA, despite its local informal dubbing as the “Silver”) line from Arlington and Falls Church through Tyson’s Corner, connecting to Dulles International Airport through Reston and Herdon in Phase II. Construction on Phase I is set to be complete in 2013.
Nototrious for its extreme traffic congestion, Tyson’s is sure to benefit in many ways from the four new Metro Stations in traffic relief and accessibility for workers and shoppers who prefer public transportation.
Currently, Tyson’s Corner shares zip codes with Vienna and McLean, though a movement is afoot to lobby for its own zip code.
