Alexandria, Virginia

Alexandria is one of Virginia’s oldest cities, founded over 250 years ago.   It still retains much of its historic charm especially in Old Town, which thrives as a local and tourist destination for shopping and dining in its many eclectic shops and restaurants.  Located on the banks of the Potomac River, you can stroll the cobblestone streets and take in the moored boats, pick up a few great things for your new home or enjoy a delightful dinner or lunch.

Alexandria is home to Mount Vernon, George Washington’s home, one of the most visited historic sites in America.

Alexandria is an independent city and is not part of Fairfax County.  It is located south of Arlington County along the Potomac River.   It has its own government and school system.

Home sales in Alexandria weathered the recession well and are up from a year ago, with median sales prices up 2.7% to $393,000 for February 2011.
